VN among Russia’s key partners in Asia

Russia gives high priority to boosting cooperation with Viet Nam, said Russian Ambassador to Viet Nam A.G.Kovtun during a press conference in Ha Noi on December 25.
The regular exchange of delegations reflected the depth of the bilateral ties and the two sides’ determination to accelerate cooperation, the diplomat said.
The two-way trade turnover reached US$3.15 billion this year, up 2% against the same period of 2012. Of the figure, Viet Nam’s export value stood at US$2.24 billion, an increase of 20.5%.
The two countries set the target to lift the trade figure to US$7 billion by 2015 and US$10 billion by 2020.
He said that the free trade agreement which is under negotiations between Viet Nam the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan), once signed, will help achieve the trade target and beef up technology transfer.
Ambassador A.G.Kovtun noted that real progress has also been made in other areas like energy, national defense and security, culture-education, tourism, science and technology, contributing to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Mr. A.G.Kovtun expressed his belief that the relations between Viet Nam and Russia will continue to flourish for the benefits of the two countries and for peace and stability in Asia-Pacific
