Chairman of National Assembly pays tribute to former generals in Thua Thien-Hue

Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man paid tribute to former President of Vietnam General Le Duc Anh and General Nguyen Chi Thanh in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on December 29. He praised their great contributions to the nation and congratulated Thua Thien-Hue for becoming a sub-national city. He also visited and presented gifts to the families of war veterans in the province.

Thousands of students join 17th Red Sunday blood donation campaign in Hanoi

Thousands of students in Hanoi participated in the 17th Red Sunday Blood Donation Campaign at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on December 29. In its 16-year history, the program has collected more than 400,000 units of blood. This year's event aims to ensure an adequate blood supply for emergencies and the Lunar New Year period.

World Bank forecasts Vietnam's economy to grow 6.5% in 2025

The World Bank projects that Vietnam's economy will grow by 6.5% in 2025, maintaining its position as one of the top performers in East Asia. Key growth drivers include trade, export recovery, industrial production, and domestic consumption. Investment in human capital, infrastructure, and green initiatives will be critical to sustaining this momentum.

Digital transformation to contribute 3% to Vietnam's GDP

Digital transformation and the digital economy could contribute 3% of Vietnam's GDP, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications. Vietnam aims for the digital economy to reach 30-35% of GDP by 2030, focusing on strengthening digital infrastructure, technology, and transformation. The ministry emphasizes science, technology, and innovation as key drivers of long-term economic growth.

National Volunteer Festival 2024 held in Lao Cai

On December 29, the Central Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Federation hosted the National Volunteer Festival 2024 together with the Winter Volunteer Program 2024 and the Spring Volunteer Program 2025 in the northern province of Lao Cai. The event brought together 200 volunteer leaders to lead tree planting, free medical checkups, community project inaugurations, and a "Zero Dong Fair," raising more than US$230,000 for disadvantaged areas.

2024 Vietnam-China-Laos Border Trade Fair opens

The 2024 Vietnam-China-Laos Border Trade Fair, held in China on December 29, featured 300 booths from 200 enterprises. Key activities included product exhibitions, trade promotion, border markets, and cultural performances. The event encouraged trade, investment, and economic and cultural cooperation among the three nations.

Vietnam honors 2024 International Olympiad winners

Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training honored students who excelled in the 2024 International Olympiads and Science Competitions on December 12. In 2024, Vietnam won 12 gold medals, 15 silver medals, 10 bronze medals, and 1 certificate of merit in all international Olympiad competitions, surpassing the 2023 results by 4 more gold medals and 3 more silver medals. For the first time, the team won second place at the ISEF competition in the United States.
