Fireworks are an indispensable part of the Lunar New Year celebrations in Vietnam.

Fireworks lit up the sky at 31 venues across the city on New Year's Eve to welcome the Year of the Cat.

Among the displays, aerial fireworks shows took place at four locations, including two spots around Hoan Kiem Lake, Lac Long Quan Flower Garden in Tay Ho District and other place in Nam Tu Liem District.

Other venues are at all districts and town citywide.

Each firework show lasted for 15 minutes from 12:00 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. on January 22, 2023.

The fireworks shows are funded by the private sector while fireworks are under the jurisdiction of the army.
